ACTIVITIES IN THE LOCAL AREA

Wine Tasting

There are several vineyards in the area and many of these can arrange tastings and / or tours. You will also find the wonderful 'Mirabeau' winery on the main Cours in Cotignac village, whose friendly staff  are always happy to introduce you to their award -winning wines.

Cultural Sites

The village of Cotignac is famed for its troglodyte houses which are open to the public for visits.  The month of July also brings several music and cultural festivals and open air cinema including the amazing festival du rocher under the stars and the troglodyte cliffs.

Local Markets

The local area has numerous markets in all the surrounding villages, including Cotignac's own market every Tuesday morning selling a variety of local produce from organic fruit and veg from local smallholdings to locally made olive oil and soap.  There are also several visiting antiques fairs and other markets throughout the year. .

Horse Riding

There are some good riding stables nearby which we recommend.  You can book lessons at the riding school or alternatively, there are numerous treks and trails you can go on through forests and vines, exploring the local area.

Canyoning and Sailing

The Lac Sainte Croix (30 mins drive)  offers a range  of watersports including sailing, windsurfing, paddle boarding, pedalos and more.  The Gorges du Verdon at the top end of the lake also provide a stunning place to go canyoning, abseiling, walking "a via ferrata", or simply driving along the incredible 'Grand Canyon' of France. Perched on the hill above the lake is the charming village of  Moustiers Sainte-Marie which is definitely worth exploring.

Kayaking, Rock Climbing and Acrobrache

Very close to Cotignac, in the neighbouring villages of Correns and Entrecasteaux, there is the opportunity to kayak and canoe down various sections of the Argens river, which ranges from challenging rapids to calm relaxing stretches meandering between high rocks and cliff faces full of wildlife. This is a great way to explore the local countryside and nature.  Why not take a picnic and stop off at one of the small river beaches en-route and a swim in the refreshing water.

Beaches
Our favourite beach, which has a wonderful open air fish restaurant under the pines, is  Estagnol, near Bormes-Les-Mimosas (1h20 from the domaine).

To the west of Estgnol you can explore the Parc des Calanques and to the east lies St Tropez with its buzzing beach bars, restaurants, and markets.
